IDEAS is short for Innovative Digital Education Apps and Systems. While we do conduct research on computer science education and pedagogy, we have found our success by applying superior software engineering and design principles to create outstanding tools and frameworks that improve the quality of student learning and better evaluate student performance.
The name of our group achieves a zen-like balance: Digital Education describes our research and Apps and Systems highlights our commitment to not only discuss pedagogical improvements but also to develop and provide others with the tools they need to adopt our successful approaches.
Maintaining a consistent visual identity across our various projects is critical to establish ourselves as leaders in the field of computer science education and ensuring that other interested parties can find and make use of the tools we produce and the research that we conduct. This page lays down some style guidelines that should be followed in web design, on conference posters, and in other publicity materials published by our group.
Downloadable versions of the logos can be found below, in a variety of sizes and file formats.
The logo forms shown below are the only acceptable representations of the IDEAS brand identity with respect to colors and element layout. With the exception of constrained proportional scaling, do not stretch, rotate, skew, or otherwise distort the logo.
When using the full-color version of the logo on a light colored or textured background, ensure that the "brain" area behind the IDEAS acronym is always white and that the background color does not show through.

The primary typeface for material produced by the IDEAS Research Group is Raleway. This typeface is available in the Google Web Fonts library so that it can be freely embedded onto web pages.
In addition to web-based material, Raleway is also suitable for text on posters, displays, pamphlets, and other settings where body text does not occur in large quantities.
Raleway does not include a true italic, but due to its geometric nature most applications and web browsers produce a suitable false italic. In applications where you can more finely control the skew angle, 10 degrees is an attractive choice.
The IDEAS acronym color from the logo may be used sparingly with bold weights to draw additional attention to key words in text.
